Downtown/Fremont has no shortage of vegan pizza options. If you’re hanging out at the Fremont Street Experience, then Pop Up Pizza is a must.
Tucked into The Plaza Hotel, Pop Up Pizza is a super fast-casual spot (its adjacent to the casino floor with some tables to grab your pies or slices and devour your food) with one vegan option — their vegan pizza pie with homemade tomato sauce and fresh veggies.
The New York-style pizza comes topped with Daiya, but whatever they do to this cheese makes it taste nothing like the Daiya we know (and dislike). When we dug into the pie, we actually weren’t sure if the cheese was dairy cheese until we ripped off a piece of the melt-y goodness to double-check. The Vegan comes topped with spinach, artichokes and roasted red peppers and is pizza perfection.
Case in point: we ordered a pie because it was more economical but swore we wouldn’t come close to eating the whole thing. We basically ate the whole thing.
The menu also features fresh dough-knots and salad (but hold the dressing).
